Fall time in Colorado

During our trip to Colorado we stopped for a trip thru a corn maze. It was very hot that day so it wasnt as fun as we hoped but it was a good experience for Gav. We went thru the kid maze first and went thru pretty easily but the second maze was more complicated. we had Gavin navigate the maze for us. It took awhile and it seemed we hit every dead end. But we made it safely thru and out. Good times.

A Hole in the Wall

I have to admit, I dont recall having a summer. We went to the beach a few times and the Green reunion, but thats about it. How sad. But I am getting the creative itch to do all things holiday and am waiting for the projects to start. But, we are wanting to move so I am spending time and energy on fixing the house. We just had a bee guy come out because we had a hive up in the roof. The bees picked the hardest part of the whole house to get to. The bee guy had to blast a hole in the upstairs bathroom wall to get to the hive. Yay for us! He spent 6 hrs on the job.
We wanted to save the hive but he said they have been Africanized and were aggressive. so he had to kill them. Weird cause we never actually had a problem with them except them being in our wall. He proceeded to remove the honey...and more honey.....and more honey. It turns out the hive has been there a year or more. Who Knew? we just noticed them a few months ago. so he ended up pulling out about 70 lbs of honey from our wall. We didnt get to keep it cause he used pesticides on it. so the inner walls got a good cleaning and we are left with a large hole as a reminder. He would have closed it but Jared wants to do it himself. So thats the adventure of the week.

Gavin

I took Gavin's 4 year measurements and he is still a big boy. He measures 3 feet 7 inches and weighs 46 lbs. He has 10 fingers and 10 toes. Beautiful blue eyes and a cute nose. But I didnt measure those parts. Its just good to know he has them still.

Happy 4th Birthday

The cake

The Singing

The blowing of the candles.

The openiong of the presents. It was a transformer party in all the right ways. He got everything he wanted and then some. He had a really great birthday.

Things that are Gavin

Born June 19, 2007
at 3:16 pm
9 lbs 12 oz
22 inches

My little monster will be turning 4 this week. Like most mom's with kids having a birthday, I can't believe he's turning another year older. I'm impressed he managed to survive this long. He is my little monster and I love him with all my heart. I simply cannot image life without him.
He is the biggest mess maker of any kid i've ever seen. If it can be spilt, he spills it. He loves transformers. The old version cartoons and the toys. We constantly have a transformer thrust at us with the demand that we play. I have gained a greater knowledge of all that is transformer.
He loves to play ps3 Little big Planet. He is master of the create a level.
He is a wiggler. wiggle wiggle wiggle.....I dont think I've ever seen him sit still since he was born. He was always a fast progressor. He was crawling at 5 months, walking at 7 1/2 months, and running soon after. He loves to ride his bike and he now has a cycling Jersey to wear.
He is a very bright boy. He will talk your leg off if you let him. He loves to learn new words and what they mean. He will hear a word and ask me the definition then proceed to use it in all his sentences, correctly.
He has a stubborn streak too. If he doesnt want to do something, you arent going to get him to do it. He has to do things in his own time and his own way. (frustrating for his parents, and I have no idea where he got that trait)
Overall, we love our little Gavin and he is our greatest treasure. Happy Birthday my boy!

(His super good looking 4 year old pics will be posted at a later date.)

A day at the Gardens

Our day at the huntington library. We went with Gavins best buddy and his dad. We toured the gardens and went inside the mansion, which is now a museum. we went into a room that was used as a study back in the 1700's. They has a bungy line that kept people from touching the exhibits. But no Bungy could stop our son as he ducked under and ran on the very old rug to sit in a very old chair. We didnt at first realize it was our child that had just done this. The security guy was there in a second to chew us out. Gavin didnt know what was going on as everyone was yelling at him. He saw a chair and simply wanted to sit in it. Oh the joys of having a Gavin.

Super
high energy and so many places to run. A childs paradise.
Can you see the monsters in the mist? This is the cloud forest room at the Huntington Library gardens.
This is our recent remodel. We cleared out all the stuff in our backyard and had it landscaped. I think the statues are a real nice touch.
The magic black dirt. The boys would have stayed all day playing in it. Gavin still talks about it. i remember getting a magnet and sucking up this stuff from the dirt to play with.

Later that day we went to art in the park. When we had gotten there we started to look around a bit when we heard a group of people laughing hesterically. we turned to find that Gavin had pulled his pants down to his ankles and was peeing in the grass amongst all the people. He didnt really see what was wrong with that. Jared ran over but you cant exactly tell someone to stop peeing mid pee! Oh the joys of raising a Gavin. He did give us something to laugh about for years and years.

Some Randomness

I dont know what to say except that he looks good in blue.

Look really close cause its not just a butterfly.

Chocolate easter bunny goodness. It might not be a good thing that he has his mothers sweet tooth. And yes we let him run around like a half naked savage.

EEEEKK!

Yes I have gone weird and adopted mice. We started with 2 and one died, probably from gavin trauma, and so we went and adopted 2 more; for a total of 3. They are Molly, Bibi, and Cutie. They are friendly and are very easy keepers. Gavin likes to torment them by trapping them in his hands and seeing just how tightly they can cling to his arm as he shakes it violently. Its a wonder the first one died. Actually it wasnt Gavins fault. It was just a faulty mouse. But the 3 we have now seem healthy and active. They run in their little wheel and climb all over their cage looking for weak spots to escape from. These are instead of a dog or another child I guess.

Fruits Of Dad's labor

Gavin enjoying the fruits of his fathers labor. We have gotten some radishes, as seen here, lettuce, and some strawberries. Gavin eats most of what is harvested because its not growing in great quantities yet. Here's to a more prosperous garden!
Gavin has his own little garden box where he has chosen to grow pumpkins, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, and watermelon. So far everything has sprouted so he should have a nice little garden to watch grow.

Such a beautiful Face

On occasion Gavin feels the need to ride his bike around the block. He does a decent job of it but could use more practice to gain more confidence. As we were scooting down the sidewalk we came up to a group of old ladies who take walks around the block. They had stopped to chat and we came up to them and one lady asks us, " how old is she?" Now if you look at the pictures, do you see girl? The lady got kinda flustered as one of her friends told her he was a boy. She then kind of apologized and said she didnt mean to call him a girl. She wanted to say that he had such a beautiful face. We smiled and said thanx and continued walking, laughing a bit. I will admit, he does have a pretty cute face. Especially when he has his really rosey cheeks.

Suppa Star

Gavin loves to dance. If he hears a good beat or a song he likes he breaks out dancing. It doesn't matter where we are. We were at Subway the other night and a song he knows came on and he started dancing all over the restaurant. The child is not shy about performing in front of others. His favorite song to dance to is Lady Gaga, Poker Face. Not the best song for a 3 year old but for some reason he loves it. He gets down and groovy and is always coming up with new moves. I finally got it on camera but the quality is terrible. Future star of So you Think You Can Dance! But unfortunately it wouldnt load the video on here.

It's like Spring time or Something

Living in Cali as we do, we are blessed with marvelous weather most of the time. And so I must brag that tho it is January we have tulips and Irises popping up. Jared has gone mad with gardening and has covered a portion of our backyard with garden boxes. He has planted all sorts of things and they are actually growing. Tho the birds have eaten all the strawberries before they actually ripen, it has been a success so far. He is like a proud daddy. He checks on his babies everyday to see who has sprouted. He built Gavin a little garden box but Gavin isnt into the whole thing like his dad wants. He wants to grow some pumpkins, watermelon, and carrots. But those things arent ready for planting quite yet. So we hope to have a great veggie crop this year. Here's to eating better!
